Yew Tree Farm is a small farm on the outskirts of the village of Wittersham in the High Weald of Kent, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Yew Tree Farm is committed to caring for the environment and wildlife on the farm, so they grow their asparagus entirely free from insecticides, herbicides and artificial fertilisers.
All good nutrition starts with the quality of the soil in which the crop is grown, but much of the soil in England is lacking in certain trace elements, so before planting the asparagus crowns they first undertook an in-depth analysis of their soil. They then re-balanced the mineral levels in the soil using a trace element dressing custom-mixed for Yew Tree Farm by a company approved by The Soil Association. Using this method, Yew Tree Farm asparagus has the optimum nutrition it needs to grow healthy and strong without the need for artificial fertiliser - good for the asparagus and good for you.
Weeds are a constant battle, so are kept at bay by rotavating and also by hand hoeing in between the asparagus crowns – no herbicides are used on their asparagus - guaranteed!
Yew Tree Farm take extra care in the farming of their asparagus so that you can enjoy this delicious seasonal taste of the English summer, safe in the knowledge that their asparagus is free from harmful chemicals and healthy for you and your family.
